1 The Attitude of Humility
Pride in the Attitude of an Intercessor is the greatest obstacle to having your prayers answered and it is because God Himself blocks your way. Just as Jesus came as a servant, learned Humility and obedience through what he went through and our need is greater still to learn humility and obedience. It is God that will give us authority and not ourselves and only after we have humbled ourselves can resist the devil and will hel flee from us.
Php 2:5-9 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
1Pe 5:5-10 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you
2 The Attitude of Love and Compassion
Someone that served God but totally failed the love-test was Jonah, his absoption with himself became totally ridiculous and he still did not see the humour in it. God works through you with compassion. If there is no compassion in your heart for those you pray for your heart is in trouble and needs renovating.
Mat 18:32-35 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Faith works through love
Psa 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
Mat 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Compassion in intercession is not about how good and cute the person is for whom we are praying but allowing the heart of God to manifest in you. We can hate the sin but still love our enemies and unless there is love, there can be no faith, for faith works through love. Understanding this you will understand what "performance" is. It is all about outwardly doing something good but becoming more and more frustrated because there is no results
3 Our Attitude of Faith & Confidence
NOTHING is too hard for the Lord to do and our confidence comes from knowing that God hears us and God hears us when we ask according to His will. We refuse to be intimidated by situations and the voices of people and the enemy.
Jer 32:17,18,26,27 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:
Jer 32:18 Thou shewest loving kindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,
Jer 32:26 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
Jer 32:27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
Heb 10:35-38 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Hab 2:3- 4 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Hab 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
4 Our Attitude of the Fear of the Lord
In an age where there is no longer a build-in fear of the Lord in man, it is very difficult to explain it to people. Each person lives according to their own idea of fairness but they live it as if the Lord has no say in their lives. There is no reverence for God or people, but this shows in the lack of faith in their lives and they have no security that is lasting. We only begin to understand a matter when we learn to Fear the Lord in that matter
Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction
Pro 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Isa 11:1-4 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
In the fear of the Lord is great protections and we move in the company of angels who are working on our behalf. The fear of the Lord releases the blessings and provisions of the Lord, but if we are always relying on ourselves, not putting our trust in the Lord and His promise, we end up without the blessings. Just so the man that is always confessing that circumstances are all dark and bleak with live in a dark and bleak land. Our confession must always honour the Lord.
Psa 34:7-10 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
